Programming in Tongues
The new Star Wars movie has me working on and off on a Star Wars oriented Galactic Phrase book program. I may include font support, something I haven't done in VB in the past. You can pick up some Hutt and Bocce lingo off my Galactic Phrase book page.. The VB UTA zip program includes the Bocce and Huttese in the phrasebook module, but I'm going to make a standalone program too....

Spider-man - mini-review:

  • A wow of a movie: "I don't think I blinked once," said my daughter.
  • Pretty dang faithful to the original. I'm not up on current Spidey exploits, but this had everything that mattered.
  • Poor Peter: See above, "faithful to original"; Spidey's got a rough life.
  • *spiritual" - Aunt Mae says the Lord's prayer - The Green Goblin quotes Jesus.
  • What kind of a munitions company hosts a "World Unity Day"? Are they counting on "familiarity breeds contempt" boosting sales?

Current events.... will sweep away. Pay attention to what lasts.

NewAdvent.org - a great website. Another is the CCEL library at www.ccel.org.
Too much furor about
the church and her problems right now - take a break. Go back in time and realize... this is not the end of the world or the church. God is faithful even when we are not.

Just Pray!
And Pray!
And Pray some more!!

The study of languages of Science Fiction is a big interest of mine - I've yet to understand why there is SO little out there on the Star Wars languages, compared to whats been done in Trek-dom. Well, this is a great source:

MrKlingon's Drake Equation Calculator
One of many interesting things to think about - how many aliens could be out there. Could be none, could be billions. Well, when they show up, I'll be happy to program their lingo into the UTA.

Test - this isn't the blog you're looking for. Move along.

This is first post - I'll have to ask you to ignore it, or look kindly on it. I've decided to set up parallel site to my musings about books I've read. More will come. I'll note here that I'm starting to update my Galactic Phrasebook programs, and have added the Hutt language to the online phrasebook http://galacticphrasebook.mrklingon.org .

Thanks to TheHutts.org!
